The GEMS, an offshoot of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), Customs Division Ladies Club, has donated assorted items to the Sekondi School for the Deaf at Inchaban in the Shama District of the Western Region.
The items were; two maxi bags of gari, two maxi bags of beans, eight bags of rice, a jerrycan of palm oil, a maxi bag of sugar, a maxi bag of salt, and five cartons of canned mackerel.
Others are two maxi bags of maize, 20 cartons of spaghetti, 320 packs of biscuits and drinks for the students, 10 cartons of bottled water, six cartons of soft drink, and 10 cartons of crunchy break and fruity cookies biscuits.
Revenue Officer (RO) Edna Impraim, Takoradi Collection, GRA, and a member of the Club, who presented the items on behalf of the President of the GEMS, said the gesture formed part of their corporate social responsibilities to help the less privileged in society.
She said the Club decided to extend their support by putting a smile on the faces of the children in the school.
She expressed gratitude to some corporate bodies and individuals for supporting the GEMS in procuring the items for the donation.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the companies and individuals including all officers who sponsored the donation, with a special appreciation to Twellium Industrial Company and GRA. We say we are grateful for their support,” RO Impraim added.
She appealed to other benevolent individuals and organisations to extend similar support to the Sekondi School for the Deaf to help create an exciting environment for the students at all times.
Madam Regina Essilfie, the Headmistress of the School, expressed appreciation to the donors for their kind gesture, and said it was timely.
She said the items received would put smiles on the faces of the students, saying, “The children are happy to receive these items, so we are much grateful to the GEMS for the support.”
Madam Essilfie appealed to stakeholders to support the school to effectively take care of the students to help give them dignified lives.
