Mr Kofi Iddie Adams, the Minister of Sports and Recreation, has congratulated Legacy Rise Sports on a successful ‘Battle of the Beasts’ boxing event on Friday, June 13, 2025.
The Bukom Boxing Arena was lit up on the night as numerous boxers entertained the packed crowd with intense pound-for-pound action, with American boxer Andrew Tabiti overcoming Ghana’s Jacob Dickson.
The thrilling boxing night, led by Mr Sharaf Mahama of Legacy Rise Sports in collaboration with Amir Khan Promotions, had Azumah Nelson, Joshua Clottey, Anthony Joshua, and other boxing greats in attendance.
In a statement, the Sports and Recreation Minister expressed his delight at the great night of boxing and believes it would serve as a springboard for Ghana’s boxing rebirth.
“The impressive turnout and high fan engagement at Bukom Arena reflect the enduring passion for boxing within our communities. Beyond the entertainment value, such events serve as powerful platforms to unearth talent, build careers and strengthen the local boxing economy.
“The Ministry is particularly encouraged by the deliberate focus on professional standards, athlete branding and global partnership demonstrated by the organisers.
“As the sector Ministry responsible for boxing, we affirm our commitment to supporting initiatives that align with the national vision for sports as a tool for youth empowerment, economic development and international visibility.
“We salute fighters, trainers, promoters, sponsors, and the entire Legacy Rise team for contributing to the resurgence of boxing in Ghana. The ‘Battle of the Beasts’ is a reminder of what is possible when talents, vision and professionalism converge,” Mr Adams said in the statement.
