NPP Parliamentary Candidate Slams Special Prosecutor’s Report on Airbus Scandal

Lawyer Nana Baffour Adjei Awuah, the NPP parliamentary candidate for Manhyia South, has expressed strong reservations about the Special Prosecutor’s report clearing former President John Dramani Mahama of wrongdoing in the Airbus scandal. In an interview on Angel FM’s “Angel in the Morning” show, Awuah described the report as “laughable” and questioned the basis of the Special Prosecutor’s conclusion.

Awuah argued that the investigator’s expectation of Mahama accepting guilt while seeking the presidency was unrealistic. He also pointed out that the report relied on incomplete information, asking, “If you haven’t heard from the Crime Agency, Airbus Company, and the Serious Fraud Office, how do you conclude that he is cleared?”

While stopping short of accusing the OSP of dishonesty, Awuah suggested that the investigators were biased, stating, “I can’t say that OSP is lying, but I can say that the investigators are supportive because I have also dealt with them.”

Awuah’s comments contribute to the ongoing debate about the integrity of the investigation, with some welcoming the report and others raising concerns about its thoroughness. He emphasized that the OSP is only an investigative body with prosecutorial powers and not a court of competent jurisdiction, implying that the case is not closed.

“The OSP’s report does not exonerate former President Mahama,” Awuah stressed. “The case is still alive and requires further investigation.”
