Eight players have been withdrawn from the Black Stars of Ghana Squad for the upcoming African Cup of Nations qualifiers against Angola and Niger for various reasons. This announcement was made by the Ghana Football Association.
The list of players includes Antoine Semenyo, Inaki Williams, Jonas Adjetey, Tariq Lamptey, Jerome Opoku, Alexander Djiku, Ibrahim Osman and Joseph Painstil.
Ghana will face Angola and Niger on November 15 and 18 respectively to conclude their CAN 2025 qualification campaign.
Here are the reasons for their withdrawal:
Inaki Williams: He suffered a hamstring injury on November 7 and has not been able to train since.
Tariq Lamptey: Calf discomfort that worsened last week and is currently rehabilitating with his club. Jonas Adjetey: Jonas was on the way to a full recovery but suffered a knock during the last league match on Saturday 9 November 2024.
Jérôme Opoku: Chronic back pain that worsened during a Sper Lig match against Besiktas on Sunday 10 November. Jérôme is currently undergoing rehabilitation with his club.
Antoine Semenyo: Treatment of a patellar tendon injury due to a match overload. The club’s medical team considered it prudent to take advantage of the break to refer him to a tendon specialist to avoid aggravating the injury.
Alexander Djiku: It was an aggravation of a hamstring injury that saw him substituted during his last match on Sunday, November 10, 2024.
Ibrahim Osman: He injured his hamstring during his last outing with his club, forcing him to be substituted in the first half.
Joseph Painstil: Personal Reason
