The Porcupine Warriors have bolstered their attacking options by re-signing the 27-year-old centre-forward in the current transfer window.
Ghanaian Premier League powerhouse Asante Kotoko have announced the signing of former Black Stars striker Kwame Poku on a two-and-a-half-year contract on a free transfer.
The club’s official statement read: “Asante Kotoko is delighted to confirm the return of striker Kwame Poku, who has signed a two-and-a-half year contract with the club, subject to medical clearance and international transfer.
The 27-year-old forward joins the Porcupine Warriors after a memorable spell in the 2020/21 season, during which he scored 6 goals and provided 3 assists in just 16 appearances.
His impressive performances got him a move to USM Alger in Algeria before continuing his career with Moroccan side Olympique Khouribga.
Poku will now wear the iconic number 31 shirt as he returns to strengthen Kotoko’s attack and contribute to the team’s domestic and continental competition ambitions this season and beyond.
Commenting on his return, Coach Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum said: “Kwame is a player who has improved tremendously since his first stay here. His time in Algeria and Morocco has enhanced his skills and added to his experience. He is a proven scorer and creator and I am sure he will bring a lot of quality to our team.”
