The Atwima Traditional Council in Ghana’s Ashanti Region is fed up with the government’s broken promises and inaction on road construction. For over seven years, contractors have failed to deliver on road projects, leaving communities in disarray.
The Council, which represents communities in the Kwadaso Municipality and Atwima Kwanwoma District, is particularly frustrated with the slow pace of work on the 20-kilometer road connecting Ohwimase, Denkyemuoso, Atwima Takyiman, Boko, and Atwima Nweneso.
In an exclusive interview with OTEC News Reporter Jacob Agyenim Boateng, Kyeame Tieku Owusu Ansah, Head of Linguists for the Atwima Traditional Council, expressed his disappointment and concern. “The government’s handling of road construction in our area has been unacceptable,” he said. “All inner roads and those linking Tanoso, Takyiman, and Denkyemuoso are in a deplorable state, causing hardship for commuters and crippling local businesses.”
The Council is urging the government to take immediate action to complete the roads and alleviate the suffering of residents. It’s time for the government to deliver on its promises and improve the lives of those in the Atwima Traditional Council area.”
