The Kwadaso Municipality in the Ashanti Region is witnessing growing discontent among residents and chiefs, who are fed up with the snail-paced progress of road construction projects. Seven years into the projects, not a single road has been completed, leaving the community feeling marginalized and deprived of development.
Residents from Atwima Takyiman, Denkyemuoso, and surrounding communities are urging authorities to address the deplorable road conditions, which are affecting both commercial drivers and locals. The Ohwimase-Denkyemuoso-Takyiman road and Tanoso-Takyiman road are among the most critical routes in need of urgent attention.
Commercial drivers have joined the chorus, lamenting the state of the roads and the impact on their livelihoods. The situation has become so dire that thousands of residents, who are members of the ruling NPP, have threatened to boycott the 2024 polls if the roads are not fixed.
Local leaders, including Assembly Member Hon. David Asare, Atwima Nifahene Nana Wiredu Akrokoro Panin II, and Atwima Akyeamehene Nana Tieku Owusu Ansah, have expressed their disappointment and frustration with the situation. They are calling for prompt action to address the poor road conditions and prevent further disillusionment among the community.
The threat of a boycott has raised concerns among political leaders, who are now under pressure to deliver on their promises and ensure the completion of the road projects. With the 2024 polls looming, the Kwadaso Municipality’s demands for better infrastructure have become a pressing issue that requires immediate attention.
