Afriyie Ankrah to Ghanaians: Don’t Trust Bawumia

Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, a member of the Manifesto Committee of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has warned Ghanaians not to rely on the promises of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for the 2024 elections.

Ankrah expressed skepticism over Bawumia’s ability to deliver on his key economic proposals, including the introduction of a flat rate, the abolition of e-taxes, the expansion of road infrastructure and ensuring prudent management of public finances.

Speaking with Umaru Sanda Amadu, Ankrah questioned Bawumia’s record, describing him as a leader who has repeatedly failed to deliver on his promises. He warned the electorate of the dangers associated with trusting Bawumia’s new commitments.

“You trust Bawumia at your peril and I want Ghanaians to know and understand that it would be very dangerous for them to trust Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia,” Ankrah stressed. “Because he is the one who has consistently made promises and failed to deliver. With Nana Addo [the president], they have made a series of promises.”

Ankrah argued that the electorate should look closely at Bawumia’s record and reject his promises, saying the NPP candidate has a habit of making promises that are not kept.
He also said that trusting Bawumia to deliver on his new promises would be a gamble, urging voters to approach his proposals with caution.

“It is not just about words, it is about action and responsibility,” Ankrah concluded.
