Mityana Municipality MP Francis Zaake was taken to hospital after a fight broke out in the Parliament chambers during the plenary session.

This comes after Mr. Zaake raised fears of insecurity in the chambers of the House, saying some people who are not MPs entered the House with weapons.

It is said that after his appearance, Mr Zaake went to where Kilak North MP Anthony Akol was sitting and tried to occupy his seat, sparking the retaliation.

In the video circulating on social media, Mr. Zaake is seen repeatedly punched by Mr. Akol until he falls to the ground.

Earlier, Speaker Anitah Among referred to Rule 9 and declared the session free, given the large number of parliamentarians present in the chambers today, allowing members of the opposition to mingle with the NRM parliamentarians.

This was during a special plenary session to discuss the very controversial Coffee Law Amendment Bill (2024).
