Two unidentified individuals lost their lives in a horrific accident on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at East Legon, Accra.
CCTV footage reveals that over speeding led to the fatal crash, resulting in a devastating collision. ADO Nartey, an officer with the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), confirmed that one body has been recovered, while efforts are ongoing to retrieve another trapped in the wreckage. The victims were reportedly traveling in an Artura vehicle.
A video shared on the GNFS Facebook page shows firefighters using specialized tools to cut through the charred remains of the vehicles, with smoke still rising from the scene. Among the deceased are two young women, whose bodies were burnt beyond recognition.
The accident occurred when one of the vehicles struck a wooden electric pole, causing electrical cables to fall and ignite the fire that consumed both vehicles. The flames completely destroyed the vehicles involved.
Authorities are still investigating the incident, which has left the East Legon community in shock. The identification of the victims remains ongoing.
