Twin City Special School in Sekondi is facing a daunting challenge: a long waiting list of special students seeking admission, but limited dormitory facilities to accommodate them. According to Assistant Headmistress Madam Agnes Frimpomah, many parents have applied to enroll their special needs children, but the lack of sufficient dormitory space has prevented the school from accepting them. This shortage not only affects the students but also hampers the school’s ability to provide adequate care and support.
The school is urgently appealing to the general public for assistance to expand its facilities. Madam Frimpomah emphasized the need for a teachers’ bungalow on campus to enable better supervision, as most teachers currently reside off-campus. This would greatly improve the care and support provided to the students.
Recently, the POWER QUEEN CLUB, an association of female workers from ECG, visited the school as part of their 10th Quadriennial Congress in Takoradi and donated food and drinks to the special needs students. Madam Frimpomah expressed her gratitude to the club and renewed her call for support from the general public.
The POWER QUEEN CLUB’s donation is a testament to the community’s commitment to supporting special needs education. The club’s president, Queen Doreen Calone Annin Gyabi, highlighted their ten-year history of giving back to society and their dedication to community service.
