Trump and Harris’s debate match is scheduled for September.

The first debate between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris will take place on September 10th, according to ABC News.
After Trump declared on Thursday that he would be willing to debate his Democratic opponent several times prior to the November election, the network officially announced the bout in a post on X, the old Twitter platform.
“We think we should do three debates,” Trump declared, putting out the idea for two more that NBC and Fox News would host, respectively.
While attending an event in Michigan on Thursday, Ms. Harris said that she will watch the ABC debate. She subsequently stated that she would be open to participating in more debates.

According to the network, ABC News Live Prime anchor Linsey Davis and World News Tonight anchor and managing editor David Muir will oversee the discussion.
“September 10 is our scheduled debate date, and I am excited to take on Donald Trump. “I’m excited about it and I hear he’s finally committed to it,” Ms. Harris remarked during the Detroit event.
In June, Republican candidate Trump had one debate with President Joe Biden.

The two were scheduled to face off once more on September 10th, but Mr. Biden withdrew from the presidential contest following a dismal showing versus Trump in the televised contest. It made it possible for Ms. Harris to be selected as the Democratic nominee.

With the confirmation of the ABC debate, a back-and-forth that ensued after Mr. Biden withdrew from the race between the Trump and Harris campaigns over that scheduled face-off comes to a conclusion.
Earlier, Trump declared that he wanted a discussion to be emceed by the right-wing Fox News network, and that it would happen “at a site in an area to be determined” in Pennsylvania.

On September 10th, the Harris team had insisted that they would still prefer to debate Trump.
During a press briefing on Thursday at his Mar-a-Lago estate, Trump also mentioned that he would like to debate Ms. Harris twice more: on Fox News on September 4 and on NBC on September 25.
Trump announced that Republican JD Vance and Democratic nominee Tim Walz for vice president would square off in a debate on CBS.

According to the New York Times, NBC News is supposedly in talks with both campaigns on a possible debate this autumn.

A September debate in Pennsylvania was suggested in formal letters submitted by Fox News to both camps last month, although the Harris campaign declared on Thursday that “Trump has to show up” to the ABC debate before they would confirm any more matchups.
Not only did Ms. Harris become the presumptive Democratic nominee just over two weeks ago, but Trump also criticized her for refusing to answer questions from reporters or participate in interviews.
He criticized her intelligence and referred to her as “barely competent.”

Reporters were informed by Ms. Harris later on Thursday that she had instructed her staff to “get an interview scheduled” by the end of the month.
Trump’s hour-long speech took place in the midst of rumors that his campaign is under siege from Democrats, who, under Ms. Harris, are gaining momentum and making headlines.
Although the race for the White House is still very tight, national and battleground state surveys indicate that her campaign has made progress recently.

When questioned about the crowd size that Ms. Harris attracts at rallies, the former president seemed to bristle and disputed that he had “recalibrated” his campaign to fight Ms. Harris rather than Mr. Biden.
He remarked, “Oh, give me a break,” and claimed that her rallies drew smaller audiences than his.
His campaign had previously concentrated on holding rallies across the nation, so this Thursday’s news conference is the first he has held in a number of months.

Trump also lauded Mr. Vance, his running mate, who has been under fire recently for remarks he made in 2021 saying that women who are childless are “miserable” and “childless cat ladies” and that those without children shouldn’t be in positions of leadership.

Trump remarked, “I have to tell you, JD Vance has really stepped up.” “He’s performing admirably.”
He criticized Ms. Harris’s record on immigration and the financial system.

Additionally, he reiterated his view that US presidents need to have authority over monetary policy and interest rates, breaking with the long-standing custom of having the US Federal Reserve, an independent organization, handle these decisions.

He emphasized that reducing crime, inflation, and bolstering the armed forces were his top concerns.
