Training on nutrition, health, and sustainable Agri-food systems begin in Hohoe

A two-day training workshop on good nutrition, health, and agri-food has begun for media practitioners in the Volta and Oti Regions.
The training is being organised by the University of Health and Allied Sciences, through the Fred N. Binka School of Public Health (FNBSPH) in collaboration with Women, Media and Change (WOMEC).
The engagement is aimed at enhancing media capacity on Nutrition, Health, and Sustainable Agri-Food Systems.
The training is to equip journalists with skills in accessing the technical knowledge necessary to effectively report on the complex and interconnected issues of nutrition, agriculture, and food systems transformation.
The training would further equip participants with the knowledge, tools, and networks required to produce impactful and accurate reports on the issues to be discussed.

In their opening remarks, Prof. Francis B. Zotor, Director and Trustee of Africa Catalyzing Action for Nutrition (AfriCAN), Dr Charity Binka, health advocacy journalist and CEO of WOMEC and AMMREN, stated that the training was an essential aspect to equip journalists on how to report on nutrition issues.
“You can become effective in reporting the nutrition agenda within the two regions and beyond. We want to train you to become entrepreneurs, job creators, and innovators within the context under discussion,” Prof Zotor stated.
Prof Zotor also indicated that it was his hope to make good nutrition education relevant within the media space.
Facilitators were drawn from the University of Health and Allied Sciences including Professor Frank Baiden, the Dean of FNBSPH, nutrition related experts, entrepreneurs, and others.
Dubbed ‘NKABOM’ which literally means togetherness, the training is currently ongoing at the S5 Hotel in Hohoe.
