Tithes and offerings can’t cover church’s bills, i rely on my businesses – Archbishop Duncan-Williams

The Presiding Archbishop and General Overseer of Action Chapel International, Nicholas Duncan-Williams, has revealed to his congregation that their tithes and offerings fall short of even covering the church’s electricity bills.

In a recent sermon, the renowned leader clarified that he does not depend on the tithes and offerings of his church members for his livelihood. Instead, he supports himself through a variety of local and international business ventures.

“I do much more than just preach. When you look at me, don’t assume I rely on your tithes. The tithes and offerings don’t even cover our electricity bills. I just choose not to speak on these matters often,” the Archbishop said. “I have investments and businesses both at home and abroad, which are my source of income.”

He also emphasized his personal commitment to tithing. “I am a dedicated tithe payer—more than most of you—and I’m very consistent. Sometimes, I have to remind my office to ensure the tithe is paid before I touch any money. I take God’s principles seriously.”

The Archbishop went on to criticize some pastors who consider themselves too powerful to tithe. “There are preachers who don’t tithe because they think they’ve grown beyond it. They become self-appointed leaders, having gained success, power, and wealth, and no longer honor the scriptures.”

Tithing remains a divisive issue within the Christian community, with some believing it remains a biblical requirement, while others argue it is no longer necessary under the New Testament.
