The problems are big; they cannot be solved in six months – Asiedu Nketia

The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has urged Ghanaians, especially the youth, to exercise patience as the government works to address the country’s pressing challenges and create sustainable jobs.
He noted that the government inherited deep-rooted economic and social problems that could not be resolved overnight, emphasising that it would take time and consistent policy implementation to achieve meaningful results.
“The problems we met are huge; they cannot be solved in just six months. We need a little more time to turn things around,” he said.
Mr Asiedu Nketia made the remarks during his Thank You Tour at Kpetoe in the Agortime-Ziope District of the Volta Region on Wednesday, October 15, as part of his regional engagements.
He explained that job creation would be a gradual process driven by the effective rollout of government initiatives such as the National Apprenticeship Programme, Nkukonkitikiti Programme, Adwumawura Programme, and other youth-focused interventions introduced by President Mahama’s administration.
“These programmes are already being implemented to equip young people with skills and create employment opportunities,” he added.
The NDC Chairman also commended the party’s branch and constituency executives for their continued dedication and urged them to remain supportive even if they have not yet received government appointments.
Mr Asiedu Nketia encouraged the youth to take advantage of recruitment opportunities in the military and other sectors as they become available.

Member of Parliament for Agortime-Ziope, Mr Charles Agbeve, thanked the National Chairman for including his constituency in the tour and assured him that the area would soon experience significant transformation under the NDC government in sectors such as infrastructure, education, health, and local economy.
He disclosed that the District Assembly had received an unprecedented GHS 6 million under the Common Fund within the government’s first six months of funds; he said it would support massive development projects.
District Chief Executive, Mr Alfred Eklu Odikro, also expressed appreciation to the government for the timely release of development funds, noting that several uncompleted projects under the previous administration, including the Ziope Senior High School dining hall, were now being completed alongside new ones such as the Adzorvi and Takuve school blocks.
The Konor of the Agortime Traditional Area, Nene Nuer Keteku IV, lauded the President for fulfilling key promises such as the Ho–Aflao road through Agortime-Ziope project under the “Big Push” initiative.
He, however, reminded the National Chairman of the community’s long-standing request for a College of Education in Agortime, a pledge the President made during his campaign.
