The National Communications Authority (NCA) has said it will work with mobile network operators (MNOs) to ensure uninterrupted flow of telecommunications services during and after the electoral period.
The NCA said it has set up a situation room at its monitoring centre to monitor the media and escalate all communication complaints to mobile network operators.
This initiative comes just before the country goes to the polls.
The Deputy Director General in charge of Technical Operations at NCA, Professor Ezer Osei Yeboah-Boateng, speaking to the media, stressed that the company is ready to provide uninterrupted service from tomorrow.
“Regarding the elections, for obvious reasons we have set up a situation room, because telecommunications play a very important role in communication and distribution of information during the election period.
“So, as NCA, we have set up a situation room and preparations are underway as we start the process tomorrow until Sunday.
“We will work in collaboration with our stakeholders and mobile network operators so that if we receive information from the public, we will pass it on to the mobile network operators so that they can take the necessary action.” Also, if we have information or reports from the mobile network operators, we can also take the necessary steps to ensure uninterrupted communication service during the period. “
