Stop Running, Debate Bawumia – Akufo-Addo Tells Mahama

President Nana Akufo-Addo has thrown down the gauntlet, challenging former President John Mahama to a public debate with Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia ahead of the December elections.

Speaking to chiefs in Tamale on October 16, Akufo-Addo emphasized the importance of open dialogue in a democratic society, urging Mahama to stop evading a direct confrontation with Bawumia.

“John Mahama, stop running away from the debate,” Akufo-Addo said. “Ghanaians deserve to know your position on crucial issues.”

The NPP has consistently called for a debate, but the NDC has rejected these invitations, sparking speculation about Mahama’s reluctance.

Akufo-Addo questioned Mahama’s commitment to transparency, citing his ambiguous stance on policies like free senior high school.

“Mister Mahama, what is your position on free senior high school? Will you continue, review, or cancel it? Ghanaians deserve answers,” Akufo-Addo said.

By issuing this challenge, Akufo-Addo aims to highlight Bawumia’s readiness to engage in constructive dialogue and demonstrate the NPP’s commitment to transparency and accountability.

The debate, if it materializes, would provide Ghanaians with valuable insights into the candidates’ visions and policies ahead of the pivotal December elections.
