Sporting have announced the dismissal of coach João Pereira, who was appointed to the job on November 11, replacing Ruben Amorim.

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Rui Borges has been appointed as the new coach of the Portuguese team and will be officially presented in the next hour. The documents regarding his appointment have already been signed.

During João Pereira’s tenure, Sporting played 8 matches, obtaining 3 wins, 1 draw and 4 losses. The goal difference was 14:13. In the Primeira Liga standings, the Lions are in second place, just one point behind leader Benfica (38).
