UK-based Ghanaian gospel musician, Sonnie Badu, has expressed deep gratitude to Rev. Eastwood Anaba, founder of Fountain Gate Chapel, for helping him overcome a battle with depression while living in the United States. In a recent interview, the acclaimed musician shared his emotional struggle during that time, revealing how he spent long hours alone in his office, overwhelmed by life’s challenges.
Sonnie Badu disclosed that at his lowest point, he even contemplated harming himself. However, the thought of his six young children gave him the strength to keep going. “I battled depression for almost six months. Sometimes, I would stay in my office alone for 12 hours with the lights off, not wanting to talk to anyone,” he said.
He credited Rev. Eastwood Anaba for being instrumental in his recovery, explaining how God revealed his struggles to the pastor, who then offered support and guidance. “Rev. Eastwood was the one God used to redeem me,” Sonnie Badu shared, reflecting on the vital role the pastor played in his healing process.
Through prayer, counseling, and a focus on his children’s well-being, Sonnie Badu found hope and strength to persevere, ultimately turning his pain into music during that difficult time.
