Passion for Needy, an NGO, has donated assorted items to the elderly, widows and widowers, and the underprivileged in Amasaman, Atooman, Saapeiman and its surrounding towns in the Greater Accra Region.
The items included bags of rice, cooking oil, canned fish, canned tomato puree, soft drinks, soaps, packs of bottled water, six yards of new cloth, and head scarfs.
The donation was presented to 112 beneficiaries to put smiles on the faces of the underprivileged in the communities.
Mrs Janet Torgbor El-Aschkar, Chairperson, Passion for Needy, said the donation was done on behalf of Prophetess Evelyn Joshua, the wife of the late Prophet T.B. Joshua, the founder of the Synagogue Church of All Nations.
She said the gesture was also to compliment the efforts of the government in responding to the needs of society.
“It always gives us much pleasure to engage in exercises such as this, especially to meet our elderly people who have contributed so much to our motherland, Ghana,” she said.

She said the NGO believed that a lot of the beneficiaries were facing economic challenges and that their “widows mite” could help make a difference in their lives, especially during the festive season.
Mrs El-Aschkar said the organisation since its inception in 2009 had provided support for various communities, including Ashiaman and parts of the coastal communities, the Pra Ewusu community in the Central Region, and Adeiso in the Eastern Region.
“We have also supported privately owned charity organizations like the Teshie and Nungua Children’s Home, Christ Faith Foster Home, Street Academy YOA Foundation, and Islamic Research Institute, among others,” she said.
Madam Elizabeth Mawutor, on behalf of the beneficiaries, thanked the organization for the love bestowed on them and prayed for God’s blessings to continue to serve humanity.
He appealed to other philanthropists and other corporate institutions to come to the aid of the less privileged in society to give them hope.
