Six students of Accra Technical University receive scholarships

Six students of the Department of Interior Design and Upholstery Technology of Accra Technical University (ATU) have been provided with a fully funded scholarship by the Ideal Home Deco.
The scholarships mean the company management will fully pay the fees of the students for the duration of their programmes.
The six students were selected out of the 24 students that applied for the rigorous competitions in the furniture, swimming pool and open-concept designs.
The beneficiaries are Ms Sonia Anne Carole Was and Ms Gloria Oluwatosin, after winning the furniture competition, while Mr Anthony Doe and Selina Appiah won the swimming pool design competition.
The rest are Mr Danson Aziz and Rhoda Elorm Ama Nyarko won the Open Concept Design competition.
Mr Tony Haikal, the Managing Director of the Compnay, said the initiative formed part of the company’s corporate social responsibility to promote students creativity and innovation in the country.
The gesture, he emphasised, was a testament to their excellence, hard work, potential and outstanding achievement to shape their future careers.
“The programme will not only provide financial support to the students but invest in their future, shape and inspire positive change in their lives,” he said.
He commended the University for the collaboration in nurturing talents and fostering growth and urged the students to strive to dream big to achieve their career goals.
Prof Amevi Acakpovi, the Acting Vice-Chancellor of ATU, said the gesture would empower the industry and academia partnership to shape the future of the economy.
He said the University’s core pillar was to equip the students with practical skills to be competitive and relevant in the world of work.
The Acting Vice-Chancellor said the University in June 2024 signed a memorandum of understanding with Ideal Home Deco to bring innovation to the doorstep of the students.
He urged the students to seize every opportunity to grow and build a vibrant and thriving interior design space.
