Ghanaian socialite and singer Sister Derby recently opened up about her struggles finding employment after completing her master’s degree in the United Kingdom. The “Kakalika Love” singer shared that after losing her £700 internship, she faced challenges securing a job despite sending out numerous applications.
“I applied for countless jobs but couldn’t land one,” she explained. “One of my professors informed me that due to the recession in the UK, companies were prioritizing citizens over other nationalities.”
Sister Derby recounted attending multiple interviews with prominent publishing companies, only to face repeated rejections. She also registered with several job agencies but found no success, ultimately leading her to return to Ghana.
“When I decided to return and search for work in Ghana, I ended up on the last Ghana Airways flight in January 2010,” she recalled.
