Seventy women entrepreneurs in North Tongu receive financial support to boost economic growth

Some seventy women entrepreneurs in the North Tongu District have received financial support to scale up their businesses.

This follows a strategic partnership between the North Tongu District Assembly and Simple Foundation, a United States-based non-governmental organisation.

The initiative, spearheaded by Madam Victoria Amefadzi Yawa Doe, the District Chief Executive (DCE), represents a significant milestone in advancing women’s economic empowerment and supporting small-scale enterprises in the district.

The beneficiaries received direct capital support aimed at strengthening their businesses and enhancing their livelihoods.

The broader objective of the programme, according to the DCE, is to promote financial independence, reduce poverty, and contribute to sustainable community development.

Madam Doe emphasized the vital role of women in the district’s economic progress and reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to creating an enabling environment for women entrepreneurs.

“This partnership reflects our shared belief that empowering women economically is key to building resilient communities,” she said.

“We remain committed to supporting women through access to funding, skills development, and inclusive local policies.”

The leadership of Simple Foundation commended the District Assembly for its dedication to grassroots development and pledged their continued support to women entrepreneurs in North Tongu.

They described the initiative as part of their long-term vision to promote inclusive economic growth and expand opportunities for underserved communities.

“We are proud to walk this path with the people of North Tongu and will continue to stand with women who are determined to change their lives and support their families,” a representative of the Foundation stated.

The beneficiaries, drawn from various communities within the district, expressed deep gratitude for the intervention, describing it as timely and life changing.

Some beneficiaries also shared stories of how the support would help them expand their businesses, increase income, and provide better support for their families.
