Seven of nine constituency results re-collated: Ebi Bright and Baba Sadiq lose seats

The Electoral Commission (EC) has successfully re-collated and announced results for seven out of nine disputed constituencies, following a High Court ruling. These constituencies had been contested in the aftermath of the 2024 general elections.

Among those affected are music entrepreneur Baba Sadiq and actress Ebi Bright, who failed to retain their previously declared victories in their respective constituencies after the re-collation process.

Baba Sadiq, initially announced as the winner of the Okaikwei Central seat with 15,383 votes, narrowly defeating incumbent MP Patrick Yaw Boamah of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), saw his lead overturned. Updated results released by the EC on December 21, 2024, confirmed that Mr. Boamah retained his seat with 21,099 votes, while Baba Sadiq secured 19,368 votes.

Similarly, Ebi Bright, who was earlier declared the winner of the Tema Central seat after defeating NPP’s Charles Forson by a slim margin of 118 votes (18,539 to 18,421), also lost her lead. The re-collated results now show Charles Forson winning with 18,870 votes, while Ebi Bright received 18,815 votes.

The re-collation process underscores the significance of ensuring transparency and accuracy in electoral outcomes, as these results have shifted the political landscape in the affected constituencies.
