Hajia Nasira Afrah, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Sekyere Afram Plains, has extended a helping hand to first-year Senior High School students from her constituency through her Obaatanpa Edu-Care Initiative.
She distributed mattresses, chop boxes, bedsheets, exercise books, sanitary pads for girls, and cash donations to support students as well as to ease the financial burden on their parents as they begin their secondary education.
The gesture, according to the MP, formed part of her commitment to ensuring that every child in Sekyere Afram Plains had a fair and equal opportunity to access quality education, regardless of their background or financial situation.
“It is heartwarming to see the excitement and gratitude on the faces of the students, parents, and community members,” she said, adding that “education remains the most powerful tool for transforming lives, and we will continue to serve our people with passion and dedication through initiatives that make a lasting impact.”
The presentation ceremony attracted traditional leaders, parents, opinion leaders, and other community members who commended the MP for her continuous efforts to promote education in the area.
The Obaatanpa Edu-Care Initiative, launched in 2024, aims to support brilliant but needy students in the constituency by providing them with essential educational items to ensure a smooth start to their academic journey.
Hajia Afrah reaffirmed her commitment to sustaining and expanding the initiative to reach more students in the coming years, emphasising that empowering the youth through education was the surest way to build a prosperous future for Sekyere Afram Plains.
