Ghanaian musician Sefadzi Abena Amesu, widely known as Sefa, has affirmed that her music career will thrive despite parting ways with her former record label.
“I parted ways with my record label, so now I am an independent artiste. Everyone knows that in Ghana, being an independent artiste after leaving a label is not easy, but that’s a key lesson 2024 has taught me,” she shared.
The “E Choke” hitmaker acknowledged that 2024 was a challenging year but highlighted the positive growth she has experienced.
“2024 for me has been challenging and very thoughtful. I have learned a lot. At the end of the day, it has taught me to grow, believe in myself, and work harder. I always say that leaving a record label doesn’t mean your career is over. You are the artiste and the talent, and where there is talent and people who understand the art, with God, all things are possible. So in 2025, I am praying for God’s blessings,” she stated.
Reflecting on her decision to leave her record label, Sefa described it as one of the toughest lessons of the year.
Sefa was signed by Black Avenue Muzik in 2017 and achieved significant success, winning the Afrobeats Song of the Year award at the 2022 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards with her hit song “E Choke.” Despite the challenges, she remains optimistic about her journey as an independent artiste.
