Ghanaian musician Sefa has officially announced her departure from Black Avenue Muzik, the record label owned by rapper and entrepreneur D-Black.
Sefa disclosed that her contract with the label ended some time ago, and she decided to leave due to business-related misunderstandings.
Although challenges arose, the singer stressed that she still regards Black Avenue Muzik as family.
“Working with people you consider family comes with ups and downs. There were some business misunderstandings, but Black Avenue Muzik has always been family,” Sefa said during the interview.
Now pursuing her career independently, the afro-pop and afrobeats artist has released new music and expressed her willingness to collaborate with other record labels if the terms are right.
“I’m very hardworking, dedicated, and self-motivated. I’m open to new opportunities,” she stated.
Sefa also clarified that she retains full rights to her songs and can continue performing them, despite leaving the label.
Sefadzi Abena Amesu, known professionally as Sefa, began her music journey with Black Avenue Muzik in 2017. In 2022, she clinched the Afrobeats Song of the Year award at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards with her hit single ‘E Choke.’
