School children in the Sissala East have been sensitised about anti-corruption with activities meant to expose them to issues that constituted acts of corruption.
Mr Bashiru Nuhu Bapagu, a member of the Local Anti-Corruption Network (LANet) took the school children and some youth on the 2025 commemoration under the theme: “Uniting with Youth Against Corruption: Shaping Tomorrow’s Integrity.”
Mr Bapagu urged the students to report acts of suspected acts of corruption to the authorities saying, “I urge you to report to the authorities, if it’s the school the head, and if at home the assembly man, the DCE, the Police Commander or any other superior person to act on.
Don’t only report and leave it there, try to monitor to see what has happened to ensure leadership does not sweep it under the carpet.”

Mr Bapagu spoke on the national theme, highlighting ethical conduct, the impact of corruption, and the importance of reporting wrongdoing.
Some of the youth raised concerns about bail conditions at the police stations, which Mr Bapagu advised them not to pay money since bail was free.
Mr Bapagu underscored the significance of youth engagement, stating that, “The future of Sissala East and Ghana rests on these young people. Our role is to equip them with the knowledge and moral courage to reject, resist and report corruption”.
The initiative in the Sissala East formed part of a nationwide activities across 87 districts aimed at promoting transparency, accountability, and integrity under the United Nations Convention against Corruption, observed annually on December 9.
The campaign, conducted in line with national efforts coordinated by the Ghana Anti-Corruption Coalition (GACC) with support from the EU, GIZ and the Hewlett Foundation, focused on youth and education.
