Samuel Abu Jinapor, the incumbent Member of Parliament for the Damongo constituency, has been declared the winner of the parliamentary election in the area. Representing the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Jinapor garnered 16,222 votes, defeating his closest rival, Samuel Garlus of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), who secured 14,425 votes.
The announcement followed a period of tension and confusion, as supporters of various candidates demanded clarity on the election’s outcome. Electoral officials and security personnel intervened to restore order before the results were officially declared.
A total of 31,069 votes were cast in the constituency, underscoring a fiercely competitive race between the NPP and the NDC. Jinapor managed to maintain his seat with a notable lead despite the challenges.
Electoral authorities assured the public that both the voting and counting processes were conducted in accordance with established protocols, ensuring the credibility of the results.
