Van Nistelrooy leaves at the same time as first team coaches Rene Hake, Jelle ten Rouwelaar and Pieter Morel.

A statement from United read: “Manchester United can confirm that Ruud van Nistelrooy has left the club.

Ruud joined the team this summer and has taken charge of the team for the last four games as interim manager .

“Ruud is and always will be a Manchester United legend. “We are grateful for his contribution and the way he has approached his role during his time at the club. He will always be welcome at Old Trafford.”
