Ruth Kadiri calls on Nollywood actors to reject unreasonable YouTube view requirements

Prominent Nollywood actress and filmmaker Ruth Kadiri has voiced her opposition to producers who pressure actors to achieve one million YouTube views within the first 24 hours of a movie’s release. Known as the ‘Queen of YouTube Nollywood,’ Kadiri has urged her peers to firmly decline such unrealistic expectations.

Kadiri contends that accumulating one million views on YouTube should not be the benchmark for a movie’s success. In a post on her Instagram account, she wrote, “Dear Nollywood actors, take the pressure off your shoulders! Any producer who requires one million views from you in one day has failed. A good production requires more than your face.”

She further emphasized, “One million views are not a standard of success. So much y’all don’t know about YouTube. Don’t let their ignorance rob you of your joy.”

Kadiri advocates for a more holistic approach to evaluating a film’s impact, highlighting that true success encompasses various factors beyond mere view counts. Her stance encourages actors to focus on the quality of their performances and the overall production rather than chasing numerical milestones.
