Rotary Club of Ho @ 40: club support maternity construction project

The Rotary Club of Ho would mark its 40th anniversary on Friday, August 8, 2025, with a grand celebration and fundraising dinner aimed at completing the second phase of its maternity project at the Kpando Municipal Hospital.
The event, which will gather Rotarians, alumni, development partners, and the public is on the theme: “Celebrating Four Decades of Service, Impact, and Partnerships.”
Proceeds from the event are expected to go towards enhancing maternal and neonatal healthcare in the Municipality.
The Kpando Maternity project, currently 60 per cent complete, is part of the Club’s broader efforts to improve health infrastructure in underserved communities with the completion of Phase One, in 2023.
Mr. Maxwell Wallahs Afram, President of the Rotary Club of Ho, said the entity is determined to mobilise the needed resources to complete the facility this year.

“This is about saving lives. Our mothers deserve better care and safer delivery conditions,” he said.
In addition to the dinner, the Club is expected to undertake a series of social impact projects at Adaklu Kpogadzi in partnership with 44 Rotary Clubs, 22 Rotaract clubs, four Interact clubs, three Lions clubs, and two Leo clubs.
Activities at Adaklu Kpogadzi will include vocational training for women, refurbishment of a classroom block, tree planting, career mentorship sessions, and robotics training in collaboration with the local social enterprise LIFE-MAC Africa.
For the past four decades, the Rotary Club of Ho has been a leader in community development initiatives across the Volta Region, focusing on health, education, water and sanitation, and youth empowerment.
Among its notable health sector interventions is the donation of a $52,000 mobile clinic van to the Ho Teaching Hospital, as well as support for the establishment and equipping of the hospital’s chemotherapy unit.
In 2021, the club sunk 10 boreholes in communities across the Volta and Oti Regions, donated a computer laboratory to Dodome Avexa School, and implemented a 45-kilometre water supply project from Sogakope to Fevie.
At the Taviefe Senior High School, the Club provided a mechanised water filtration system, which remains the school’s only reliable source of potable water.
The Club has also executed projects in Kledzo, Kpokuve and Dzemeni. The projects included the construction and equipping of a maternity unit in collaboration with the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, as well as numerous tree planting campaigns.
Every December, the Club supports hospitalised children in Ho with Christmas hampers, further demonstrating its dedication to community welfare.
Dr. Vincent Asimah, Chairperson of the Anniversary Planning Committee, described the 40th anniversary as “a celebration of lives touched, communities uplifted, and futures made brighter.”
He urged Ghanaians and friends of Rotary to support by donating, attending the event, or sponsoring a project.
The dinner will feature live performances, storytelling, award presentations, and a major fundraising appeal. According to club officials, the completed maternity project could serve over 1,000 mothers and newborns each year.
Invitations have been extended to stakeholders in health, education, civil society, business, and the media. The Club encourages all who support community development to participate.
