Roads Minister Embarks on Inspection Tour in Volta Region

The Minister of Roads and Highways, Francis Asenso Boakye, recently undertook a comprehensive two-day inspection tour of ongoing road projects in the Volta and Oti Regions. The tour, which took place on July 25-26, aimed to assess the progress of various projects and identify areas for improvement.

  

Projects Inspected

During the tour, Minister Asenso Boakye visited several key projects, including:

1. Atimpoku-Juapong-Asikuma Road: The Minister inspected the 26-kilometer road, which is currently undergoing resealing and sectional repairs by First Sky Construction firm.
2. Ho-Sokode-Gborgame Dual Carriage Road: The Minister visited the 10.5-kilometer dual carriage road, which was completed in May 2024 and handed over to the government. He noted that the project has significantly improved traffic flow and safety.
3. UHAS Internal Roads: The Minister inspected the upgrading of the 5.3-kilometer internal roads of the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS).
4. Ho By-Pass Dualization: The Minister inspected the dualization of the Ho by-pass, which is currently 49.5% complete.
5. Asikuma-Kpeve-Have Eastern Corridor Road: The Minister also inspected this road, which is part of the Eastern Corridor roads project.

During the tour, the Minister identified some challenges, including the recent flooding situation on the Alabomi stream culvert. He attributed the flooding to human activities such as filling the stream with refuse and assured that dredging would be carried out to ensure easy water flow.


Minister Asenso Boakye reiterated the government’s commitment to delivering quality infrastructure that meets the needs of citizens. He emphasized the importance of maintaining roads to prevent damage and ensure safety.
