Riqui Puig Tears his ACL

Galaxy guard Puig tears ACL in Western Conference final
The LA Galaxy are expected to be without their star player for next Saturday’s MLS Cup after Riqui Puig tore his ACL against Seattle in Saturday night’s Western Conference final, the team announced Sunday.

Puig, who scored 17 goals and provided 14 assists for the MLS Cup finalists this year, was seen limping after the Galaxy’s 1-0 win. According to a Galaxy social media post, Puig was injured in the second half of Saturday’s game and continued to play for more than 30 minutes, providing the assist for Dejan Joveljić’s game-winning goal in the 85th minute.

His injury will be a huge blow to the Galaxy, who have relied on the former Barca midfielder for extended periods this season. The Player has contributed seven goals in four MLS playoff games and assisted Joveljic on the game-winning goal.

Puig confirmed he suffered the injury in a social media post on Saturday night, but appeared to express optimism that it was not serious.
