The dispute between Kylian Mbappé and Paris Saint-Germain has been a hot topic this season.
The legal battle centers on the €55 million in unpaid contributions that Mbappe is demanding from PSG.
Although the LFP has issued two rulings in Mbappe’s favor, PSG has yet to pay the amount and continues to seek legal means to avoid payment.
Delphine Verheyden, Mbappe’s lawyer, has been outspoken in her criticism of PSG’s tactics, saying (via AS): “PSG want to escape the rules of football.
They are ready to destroy the system instead of fulfilling their obligations. “If the governing bodies do not protect their contracts and regulations, we are sending a strong signal saying: ‘You can violate the players.'”
She added that only 25 million euros directly benefit Mbappe, the rest for social security and taxes.
Verheyden accuses PSG of using various legal avenues to avoid financial responsibilities.
“PSG has taken the LFP to the Paris court, arguing that it does not have the authority to force a club to respect the commitments it has made.
This becomes a much bigger problem than my client’s case. It could overturn the whole system,” she warns. Despite the possibility of using broader remedies for defamation or moral harassment, Verheyden is only focused on getting the payments owed to Mbappé.
“My goal is not to punish PSG. Otherwise, we would have taken legal action long ago for damage to our image or moral harassment. All Kylian Mbappe wants is to be paid what he owes,” he added.
In a new twist, Verheyden appealed to the French Football Federation (FFF), hoping to enforce the LFP’s decisions and possibly seek sporting sanctions, including from UEFA, which could affect PSG’s eligibility for the continental competitions if the debts are not repaid. The case now goes to the French labor court, where both sides will present their arguments, a process that could take several years.
Mbappé and PSG are facing difficult times.
