Nana Otuo Owoahene Acheampong, Executive Director of the National Commission on Culture and Arts, has urged political parties to refrain from using insults in their campaigns, promoting instead respectful communication with the electorate. He made this appeal during the launch of the National Planning Committee for the 2024 National Festival of Arts and Culture (NAFAC).
Acheampong emphasized the importance of maintaining peace in the country, especially ahead of the 2024 elections. He encouraged politicians to focus on constructive dialogue, highlighting their policies and ideas without resorting to personal attacks.
The NAFAC festival aims to celebrate and promote Ghana’s rich cultural heritage, including ancient artifacts, local artworks, and heritage sites across the country’s 16 regions. Additionally, the event seeks to showcase the creative arts industry’s significant contributions to employment, tourism, and local artists’ creativity.
Bono East Regional Minister Kwasi Adu-Gyan reaffirmed the regional security council’s commitment to ensuring peace and stability in the lead-up to the 2024 elections.
By promoting respectful political discourse, Acheampong hopes to foster a more harmonious and peaceful electoral process, allowing Ghanaians to focus on the country’s cultural heritage and development.
