Speaking at the commissioning of a modern Ghana Police Service Shop at the Police headquarters, Vice President Dr. Bawumia acknowledged the significant impact of these initiatives on making the country safer and bringing the police closer to the citizenry.
The Vice President highlighted several key initiatives undertaken by the police administration, including the facelift of the National Police Headquarters, expansion and decentralization of the Formed Police Unit (FPU) to all 25 Police Regions, enhanced police visibility, decentralization of police background checks to all police regions, active community and stakeholder engagements, enhanced intelligence operations, uniform uniformity, and the “Snatch Them Young” policing initiative focusing on school children.
Vice President Dr. Bawumia urged the police administration to continue their efforts, especially as the nation prepares for a general election on December 7. He emphasized the importance of a safe and secure environment for the electoral process and commended the police for their dedication to maintaining law and order.
The commissioned police shop will serve as a dedicated outlet for police personnel to purchase additional uniform items and institutional souvenirs. This initiative is part of the police administration’s efforts to improve the overall image and professionalism of the service.
The initiatives undertaken by the IGP and his team have contributed significantly to improving public safety and confidence in the police service.
