The Ghana Police Service has launched an investigation into an attack by a group of about 15 unidentified individuals who vandalized the office and residence of Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, Member of Parliament for Ablekuma West, on Monday, December 9, 2024.
The assailants reportedly broke into the premises, stealing items including three motorbikes, a pickup vehicle, and a 32-inch Samsung television, among others, while causing extensive damage.
A Crime Scene Management team has visited the location as part of the ongoing investigation. In a statement, the Police Service assured the public of swift action: “A targeted intelligence-led operation is ongoing to apprehend the suspects and bring them to justice.”
The Police added that security at Owusu-Ekuful’s office and residence has been reinforced, and leadership is in contact with her to ensure her safety.
Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, a notable member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and former Minister of Communications, lost her parliamentary seat in the recent elections. Rev. Kweku Addo of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) won the seat with 31,866 votes, defeating Owusu-Ekuful, who polled 26,575 votes.
