Peanut Contamination Fears Prompt Recall of Over 20 Spice Products

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has issued a precautionary recall of more than 20 spice products due to potential undeclared peanut contamination. The affected products, supplied by FGS Ingredients Ltd in Leicester, include popular items from Domino’s, Favourit, Dunnes Stores, and Westmorland Family Butchery.

Reason for Recall

The recall follows concerns that these products may contain peanuts not listed on the label, posing a risk to consumers with peanut allergies. This is the second recall in recent weeks related to FGS Ingredients, which is ongoing testing to determine the source of the contamination.

Affected Products

– Domino’s BBQ Dip
– Favourit and Dunnes Stores seasonings and curry powders
– Westmorland Family Butchery sausages and burgers
– Other products containing mustard ingredients

Consumer Advice

– Return affected products for a full refund
– Check point of sale notices at retail stores
– Be aware of potential peanut contamination in products containing mustard ingredients

The company has pledged cooperation with the FSA investigation, stating: “We have never previously been involved in any incident of food contamination… We continue to support the FSA investigation.”

The FSA will display point of sale notices at affected retail stores, explaining the reason for the recall and advising customers on what to do if they have purchased the products.
