Organized Labour has suspended its nationwide strike, which began on July 15, 2024, after Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) agreed to terminate the sale of its shares in four hotels.
The strike was to protest against the sale of 60% of SSNIT shares in the hotels to Rock City Hotel, owned by Bryan Acheampong.
Following an emergency meeting in Accra today, Dr. Yaw Baah, Secretary-General of the Trades Union Congress, announced the decision to end the strike, effective Tuesday, July 16, 2024.
Organized Labour has given SSNIT a one-month ultimatum to engage with them to address outstanding issues related to pension management.
He however, warned that they would advise themselves, if SSNIT fails to meet this demand.
He expressed gratitude to all working people in Ghana and Organized Labour groups for their support during the strike.
