One suspect arrested in armed robbery incident at Dabanyin, Police hunt for accomplices

The Central East Regional Police Command, has arrested one suspect in connection with a violent armed robbery incident that occurred in the early hours of Sunday at Dabanyin, near Gomoa Buduatta Junction, along the Kasoa-Winneba highway.
The suspect, identified as Mohammed Bello, was apprehended shortly after the robbery, which took place around 0300hrs.
According to a source close to the police, Bello and four unidentified accomplices currently at large, attacked multiple drivers and passengers, stealing various personal items, including mobile phones and cash.
Swift police intervention led to Bello’s arrest in the vicinity as he attempted to flee the scene.
A search on him uncovered an amount of GH₵3,740.00 in cash, two Samsung smartphones, a Tecno Spark 20, an Itel keypad phone, an Itel power bank, a woman’s purse, five sticks of cigarettes, a wristwatch, a headset, a phone charger head, and a pair of sandals later identified by one of the victims.


The suspect had since been in police custody assisting with investigations.
The source said the police had launched intelligence-led operations aimed at tracking and arresting the remaining members of the gang.
Four of the victims of the robbery sustained gunshot wounds and are receiving treatment at a medical facility.
The victims have expressed appreciation for the rapid response and also the frantic efforts being made to ensure justice.
The Central East Regional Police Command has urged members of the public who may have been affected by the incident to visit the Regional Police Command to support the investigation process.
The Command also assured residents that efforts were being made to apprehend all suspects involved, and ensure they faced the full rigours of the law.
