Okyenhene Champions Rural Development

Okyenhene Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin is championing rural development in Ghana, emphasizing its crucial role in the nation’s progress. He made this call during a courtesy visit by Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the New Patriotic Party’s running mate, in Kyebi. The Okyenhene praised Dr. Prempeh’s contributions to the successful implementation of the Free Senior High School policy, which has gained international recognition.

The Okyenhene stressed that rural areas lack essential infrastructure and support, hindering their growth. He advocates for effective decentralization and enhanced local supervision in governance to improve governance, generate employment, and stimulate economic growth in these communities. By prioritizing rural development, Ghana can achieve balanced and inclusive economic development, ensuring all regions benefit from the country’s progress.

Dr. Prempeh, on his Eastern Regional Tour, expressed gratitude for the Okyenhene’s support and wisdom. He shared how President Akufo Addo discussed the Free SHS policy with him during the election petition and how it would have started in 2012 if the party had come to power.

The Okyenhene’s words carry significant weight, and his support for Dr. Prempeh and the NPP’s plans for the country is a notable endorsement. As Dr. Prempeh continues his regional tour, his engagement with the people of Abuakwa South and Fanteakwa North is expected to have a substantial impact on the New Patriotic Party’s electoral fortunes.
