NUGS Hosts Career and Tertiary Education Fair

The National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) recently organized a Career and Tertiary Education Fair at the University for Development Studies (UDS) Nyankpala campus. The event, themed “Shape Your Tomorrow: Explore, Discover, Learn, Achieve!”, aimed to equip students with the necessary skills and knowledge to make informed decisions about their tertiary education and future careers.

NUGS President, Daniel Oppong Kyeremeh, highlighted the challenges faced by Senior High School students in selecting suitable programs and courses, prompting the union to initiate this training program. The fair offered a range of sessions, including:

– Entrepreneurship and youth leadership
– Programming AI and social media marketing
– Skills training (satellite and dish setup, soap making, fascinator and beads work)
– Career development (CV writing and project management)

These sessions aimed to provide students with practical skills to complement their academic pursuits and enhance their future employability.

Aaron Akwaboah, Strategy Innovations Director of Transforming Teaching Education and Learning (T-TEL), emphasized the importance of creating job opportunities through strategic program and course selection.

Participants expressed gratitude for the insightful program, which helped redirect their focus and provided valuable skills training.

The event was supported by notable partners, including the Ghana Education Service, Ministry of Education, Students Loan Trust Fund, and AGI, demonstrating a collaborative effort to empower students for success.
