Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh, Vice Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has pledged to transform small-scale mining in the Western Region through the introduction of community mining schemes. Addressing rallies in Bogoso and Mpohor, Dr. Prempeh outlined plans to revolutionize the mining sector, creating jobs and wealth for local miners while promoting responsible mining practices.
The NPP government aims to establish community mining schemes in abandoned shafts, explore new mining sites, and provide capacity building and financing for equipment acquisition. Dr. Prempeh emphasized the importance of transitioning small-scale miners towards responsible practices, which will contribute to environmental conservation efforts.
Barbara Oteng-Gyasi, Parliamentary Candidate for Prestea Huni Valley, highlighted her developmental achievements and pleaded for re-election to continue her agenda. The enthusiasm in Mpohor reflects the people’s appreciation for the NPP government’s work, with many expressing readiness to vote for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and return John Aboa Sanie to Parliament on the NPP ticket.
The NPP’s vision is to manage Ghana’s mineral resources to benefit the people, stimulate economic growth, and promote responsible mining practices. Dr. Prempeh’s message was well-received, with many miners urged to desist from polluting water bodies and support the NPP’s developmental agenda.
