Some youth organisers of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Wednesday, August 13, 2025 picked up presidential nomination forms for former Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Party’s Flagbearer for the 2024 general election, ahead of the Party’s January 2026 presidential primary.
The youth organisers, comprising substantive and deputy youth leaders from constituencies nationwide, purchased the forms at the Party’s headquarters in Asylum Down, Accra, and subsequently presented the forms to Dr. Bawumia at his campaign office, in Accra.
Mr. Abubakar Razak, the Subin Constituency Youth Organiser, on behalf of his colleagues, presented the forms to Dr Bawumia.
Dr. Bawumia expressed gratitude to them for their unwavering commitment and support, describing the gesture “as a remarkable show of trust in him.
“The youth organisers of our party across the length and breadth of our country, 490 out of 552, came to me.
“The leadership requested that they wanted to put their widows’ mite together and pick nomination forms for me, which I agree. This is a remarkable vote of confidence in me,” Dr Bawumia said.
Dr Bawumia continued: “This morning, they have fulfilled the promise they made and have picked the forms from the party’s head office and delivered it to me.
“The youth are a major asset of our party and the nation. They represent the future. I want to thank them for this major vote of confidence.”
Dr. Bawumia cautioned the youth against divisive politics and insults, underscoring the importance of unity within the party.
“I’m minded to contest the flagbearership of the NPP and will make a full declaration in that regard when I go to submit the forms you have delivered to me,” Dr. Bawumia said.
He urged party leaders to continue to be decorous during the contest, and called for policy-based campaign, devoid of mudslinging and personal attacks.
