Artists captivate attendees at the Chale Wote Street Art Festival in 2024.
The seventh day of the Chale Wote Street Art Festival in 2024 saw a number of performers congregate at Blackstar Square in Accra.
Yesterday evening, the many art exhibits that started on Monday night persisted throughout Osu’s streets, even as some visitors took in musical performances at Blackstar Square. The Afuabe Collective street painters’ murals were on display. It was lovely to see the bicycle riders on show, the elegant ladies walking down the street in catwalks, and the variety of beads and traditional attire.
Chale Wote 2024 explores the site’s past by examining its origins, death, and the recent resuscitation of its sacred sciences, which were long since lost and buried with the giants. The event will curate a plethora of counterhegemonic narratives about this rebirth in its most spectacular form through art and entertainment.
In contrast, the Chale Wote festival is an annual arts and cultural occasion that takes place in Accra and features the inventiveness of regional artists in a variety of mediums, including dance, music, street art, fashion, and more. Residents and visitors from all walks of life unite for this vibrant celebration of Ghanaian culture and skill.
