No School Feeding Activities in Kadjebi District: Concern for Pupils’ Attendance

Kadjebi District is facing a significant disruption in its school feeding programme with no meals provided to pupils during the ongoing third term, which began on May 9, 2025.
A recent visit by the Ghana News Agency (GNA) to various schools in the district had confirmed that the schools were not serving meals to the pupils.
At the Kadjebi E.P Primary School, Headteacher, Mr. George Amati expressed concern over the situation, noting that there was no cooking during the term, leaving 721 pupils who benefit from the programme without meals.
He indicated that a formal report on the issue will follow.
Similarly, Emmanuel Kofi Kafui Hodzor, Headteacher of Kadjebi D/A “A” Primary School, reported that upon resumption, there was no cooking.
He said that 420 pupils relied on the feeding programme and urged authorities to intervene and allow caterers to provide meals, as the absence of food was negatively impacting school attendance.
Madam Tina Koomson, Headmistress of Okanta D/A Primary School, said the 238 pupils benefiting from the programme had also gone without meals this term.
She appealed for the immediate return of caterers to address the urgent needs of the pupils.
Mr. Emmanuel Adamu, the School Feeding Programme Desk Officer for Kadjebi, confirmed to the GNA that cooking for pupils had been temporarily halted.
He attributed the disruption to the ongoing reassignment of caterers, emphasising that meals would resume as soon as the process was completed.
Mr. Adamu also noted that currently, 40 schools in the district were benefiting from the programme.
