NHIA Releases GH¢402 Million to Healthcare Facilities Nationwide

The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has commenced the disbursement of GH¢402 million to healthcare facilities across Ghana, marking a significant milestone in the country’s healthcare sector.

This latest payment covers claims submitted and vetted for June and July 2024, aligning with the NHIA’s three-month reimbursement schedule. The disbursement ensures that healthcare providers receive prompt payments, enabling them to deliver quality services to National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) subscribers.

Breakdown of the Disbursement

– Public health facilities: GH¢223.9 million (56.03% of the total amount)
– Private health facilities: GH¢106.5 million
– Quasi-public and mission health facilities: significant funds allocated

This recent disbursement brings the NHIA’s total payments in recent months to GH¢800 million. The Authority has demonstrated its commitment to strengthening Ghana’s healthcare system through:

– Regular payments to healthcare providers
– Expanding the NHIS Benefit Package to cover over 95% of disease conditions
– Including over 550 medications on the NHIS medicines list

The NHIA’s prompt payments have been welcomed by healthcare providers, who have expressed gratitude for the Authority’s support. This collaboration ensures the continued provision of quality healthcare services to Ghanaians.
