Sources at CaughtOffside have claimed that Barcelona are monitoring £100m Swedish striker Alexander Isak, who they see as a great alternative to Robert Lewandowski.
Although the Polish performances belie his age, the Catalan giants know they need to look to the future and are therefore looking for a bright striker for the coming seasons.
The Player’s form for Newcastle United has been fantastic and that is why he has been on the watch list of FC Barcelona.
Sources have indicated that Barcelona could make a player + cash offer for the Swedish and are prepared to meet their financial demands, although Newcastle are expected to reject any attempts to lure him away from St. James’ Park. That includes a club-record bid from Arsenal, with Chelsea also monitoring developments.
Isak has a contract with Newcastle until 2028 and remains a key part of Eddie Howe’s future plans.
Indeed, sources understand that the Magpies manager is completely relaxed at the moment, as he believes the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF) will not pull the rug out from under him and sell a player if he is essential to the way Howe wants to operate.
Every player has their price, of course, and if the Catalans officially try to destabilise the striker, Newcastle may be forced to reluctantly accept that a transfer is inevitable.
So far, it is not impossible to do everything to convince Isak that a return to the La Liga would not be the best solution for the advancement of his career.
