New Board of Governors inaugurated for Gbekor SHS

A new Board of Governors was on Tuesday inaugurated for Gbekor Senior High School at a ceremony at the school at Adaklu Abuadi/Tsriefe in the Adaklu district.

The 13-member committee, which is chaired by Togbe Agbobada IV, Senior Divisional Chief of Adaklu Anfoe was inaugurated by Mr. Francis Agbemadi, Volta Regional Director of Education.

Mr. Jerry Yao Ameko, Adaklu District Chief Executive (DCE), speaking at the ceremony advised members of the new Board to prioritize strategic planning, accountability and stakeholder engagement.

“Your role in supporting management of the school, mobilizing resources, maintaining discipline and strengthening the welfare of both staff and students is very critical,” he stated.

He urged them to foster strong partnership with the District Assembly, Ghana Education Service and Development Partners to unlock opportunities that would accelerate the growth and development of the school.

Mr. Ameko who is also the Dean of Volta DCEs noted that the inauguration of the Board signified a new milestone in the governance of the school.

He stated that the quality of leadership, oversight, and collaboration at the school governance level directly impacted academic performance, discipline, infrastructure development, and the overall growth of students.

“Your assumption of office today carries both honour and responsibility,” he told them.

He stated that education remained the most strategic investment for the future development of Adaklu.

The DCE intimated that the Assembly, in line with its mandate to support the school, had taken deliberate steps to address some of its immediate needs.

He mentioned them as the provision of streetlights, supply of water, and resumption of works on the administration block and library complex.

“These initiatives exemplified our belief that education is a shared responsibility, government provides policy direction and funding whilst the Assembly, management and Board of Governors, traditional authorities parents work to achieve set objectives,” Mr. Ameko stated.

He said the Assembly was therefore prepared to collaborate with the Board and Governors and management of the school to improve teaching and learning.

The DCE stated that they would also collaborate with them to enhance security and improve initiatives that would establish the school as a centre of academic excellence and moral integrity in the Volta region and beyond.

Mr. Agbemadi assured members of the maximum support of his outfit in the discharge of their duties.

On behalf of his colleagues, Togbe Agbobada assured that they would work to justify the confidence reposed in them.
